Instructions for measuring
Measuring feet
It is difficult to measure your own foot, so it is a good idea to ask someone for help or measure your own feet while seated. It is also a good idea to measure both feet, as there are often differences in size and length.
Draw your foot on paper. Measure with a tape measure.
A. Length of the foot: measure from the outmost part of the heel to the tip of the big toe.
B. Diameter of the ball of the foot: measure the diameter of the part of the foot that you step on.
C. Diameter of the foot chest: measure the diameter of the highest part of your foot. The bone can be clearly felt.
These are the most important foot measurements. It is possible to determine from these measurements which last will suit you best.
0,5 – 1,0 cm will be added to the length of the foot to allow room to walk comfortably, and this gives the length of the last. The length of the last is the interior length of the shoe. Your own shoe size tells the most. The wide H last can usually be made one size smaller than usual, as long as there is enough room for walking.
For boots there is one more measurement,
D. Diameter around the heel and foot chest, and the diameter of the ankle measured around the bones of the ankle. In order to achieve the right size boot shaft, it is necessary to measure from the ground to the highest point of the shaft, and the diameter of the leg at the highest point.
Pikitikki lasts
Pikitikki supikas can be ordered in different widths. Add 0,5 – 1,0 cm to the length of the foot to allow room for walking. All measurements are given in centimeters. Measurements need to be snug, as the vegetable tanned leather adapts to the individual foot quickly.
The normal F last is relatively narrow. The wider H last is wider and higher.
In the case where a suitable last can’t be found, it is possible to make a bespoke last. The additional price for bespoke shoes is 110€, be also depends on the number of changes needed in the last or pattern.
